Thought for the day

Cara’s thought for the day…The world came together and cheered…Listening to so many get together and support one another, wouldn’t this be amazing to see every day? What if all we did was support one another in our homes in such a positive way? If we said “good job” and “nice try” instead of “how could you” or “you know better”. That cheering you heard was a positive regard shown for those working hard to save our lives. We didn’t decide not to cheer because of a mistake or because they didn’t do something good enough. We all cheered because they are working hard and doing their best. I wonder…is it possible to look at your children in the same way? Is it possible to look at yourself in this way? Can you look at all you have done…all of the hard work, the trials and errors, the exhaustion and say “wow, well done!”

I challenge you today to cheer for your hard work. Look at your children and cheer for the steps they have made. When you forget, and you find yourself once again only looking at the negative, remember this night. This night when England came together to show their positive regard for those fighting for our lives. This is what we Foster parents do every day, isn’t it? We fight for the lives of our children…Maybe you deserve the clapping and cheering too. Maybe you deserve it every day and need reminded that you are amazing and doing a great job too!

Thank you for all that you are doing. Thank you for sticking in there and fighting through your exhaustion. Thank you for doing your best because it is good enough. Please look at yourself and see your value. I know the world isn’t clapping for you, but they should.
