Fiona Trewartha

I have been within a teaching environment my whole adult career, either as a trainer of adults, teaching in a college, a Teaching Assistant in schools and a NVQ assessor.  My speciality was teaching Microsoft Applications.

I am currently a Foster Parent and have been involved in helping other carers’ access training as well as assessing their workbooks set by the Government and created a Band 2 training course.  I also put together a handbook for Foster Parents in our Local Authority.

Since qualifying in the Adult Education sector, I have completed the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (Social Care), Level 3 Certificate in assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) and was the first person in the country to be awarded the Diploma in Therapeutic Parenting from Inspire Training.  Being an honorary member of NATP has led me to want to train others in Therapeutic Parenting.

As business manager for Treehouse Therapeutic Training, I am here to offer training to people who are involved with children and parents/carers who would like help with their parenting skills.  My business partner and I are also looking at other techniques to help caregivers with difficult situations (EMDR, CBT etc.). I am also a panel member of the Foster Care Advisory Committee for CoramBAAF.
