Thought for the day

Thought for the day…take all advice (even mine) with a grain of salt. I know this sounds crazy! I am telling you to not listen to all that I am saying! shock! Actually I am letting you know that while my info and advice can be helpful, I don’t know you, your life or your child…so take what works and its ok if you ignore what doesn’t.
We all do our best and work with what we have. I have experience that I do share and I hope you find valuable, but this does not mean that my word is the ‘end all’ of all information. There are so many people out there with other ideas and experience. You have way more experience in your life than I ever will. You have way more knowledge of your child than I ever will. Does this mean that my info isn’t any good?
No, but it does mean that maybe every one of my answers is not a perfect fit. It might even mean the specialist who has done this for 20 years and has a PHD, might also not have the perfect answer.
Where does this leave you? Do keep searching, keep learning and take what works for you. Do seek out the opinions and experience of others, but trust your experience and knowledge of you, your child and your life. If something I say sounds right, then great! If something I say sounds totally not right for you and your child…well take what you can and leave the rest, trust your knowledge of your family.
Its ok to trust your experience. It is ok to look at the professional or the person who has written 5 books on the subject and say “you know that just doesn’t sound right for me” (hopefully this will one day be me with the 5 books). This parenting thing is not a “one size fits all” kind of thing, so if you have another thought or way to do things, if you find something that works for you and you want to share it then please do.
It is ok to find what is right for you and your family…don’t forget that…I just hope I can help you find something that you do find that is at least a little right and can make your life a little bit better 🙂
